Since 1980, Aesthetics, Inc. has transformed built environments and created healing experiences using evidence-based, patient-centered, and holistic design principles. Aesthetics is unique in offering multidisciplinary systems and strategies for Wayfinding Programs, Interior Architectural Design, Regional Arts Programs, and Interpretive Displays. Our process engages, educates and empowers an organization to express its uniqueness through Interior Architecture, Design and the Arts.
We help each client identify strategic goals with a focus on branding. Our in-depth knowledge of the healthcare environment guides our comprehensive operational assessment and analysis. Aesthetics' collaborative, studio approach provides a richness of ideas and harmonious solutions that are cost-effective and sustainable. Our commitment is to create spaces that inspire the human spirit, promote health and wellness, and respect human dignity.
President and Founder Annette Ridenour leads an outstanding team of over 20 people, including architects, interior designers, graphic designers, environmental designers, artists, arts consultants, and fund-raising specialists. Although our primary focus is healthcare, our design expertise has been sought in many other arenas, in the public and private sectors.

Annette Ridenour
President
Annette has been a leader in healthcare design for 30 years through the work of Aesthetics, Inc., the multidisciplinary design firm where she is President and Founder. She is described as a practical visionary for her ability to combine explorative thought and strategic thinking with group process to create implementation pathways for healthcare organizations.
Annette was one of the pioneers of the field of Art and Healthcare. She served as one of the original board members and president of the Society for the Arts in Healthcare. In 2002, she co-founded the Blair L. Sadler International Healing Arts Awards to recognize exemplary arts projects that have measurably improved the quality of healthcare. Annette and Blair Sadler have co-authored Transforming the Healthcare Experience through the Arts (published December 2009) - a book providing the business case on arts and healthcare, an overview of research and evaluation, best practices and award winning case studies. Numerous articles by and about her have appeared in publications that include Healthcare Design, Health Facilities Management, Healthcare Building Ideas, and Spirituality & Health. As early as 1998 she had an article published in JAMA on Art and Healthcare.
In the early 90’s, Annette expanded her practice to Interior Design, Wayfinding and Interpretive Displays to create a cohesive visual environment to enhance and sustain healing. Under her leadership, the Wayfinding programs of Aesthetics provide design integration of all aspects of the patient’s journey.
Annette is co-founder of Aesthetics Audio Systems, a national firm providing evidence based sound and music solutions for healthcare environments. She is a member of the Planetree Visionary Design Network, providing holistic design services to Planetree members. Her practice of design leadership assists clients in maintaining the original vision and values of the project through the long and complex stages of design and construction. |

Duane Fisher
Director of Wayfinding Programs
Duane Fisher is a Director with emphasis in the practice area of Wayfinding Programs at Aesthetics, Inc. He is a registered architect with over 20 years of experience and is a member of NCARB. He has been with the firm since 1999.
Duane has been instrumental in the development of the Wayfinding Programs department. He has helped create and refine the holistic analysis and solutions for our clients that have made Aesthetics a leader in the field of healthcare wayfinding. Duane has strong design skills, understanding of operational, interior and environmental design issues pertaining to healthcare and the patient experience, and brings a sound background to project budgeting, scheduling and management. He oversees a talented group of graphic designers, project managers and project assistants. |

Roger Hill
Director of Architectural Services and Exterior Wayfinding
Roger works from a broad project background that includes master planning, building design, and interior architecture for a wide range of project types. He currently has 30 years of experience in the profession. He received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1976 from the University of Oregon. Professional awards include an Award of Excellence from the Woodwork Institute of California and an Orchid Award from Orchids & Onions Awards.
At Aesthetics, Roger leads both the architecture and exterior wayfinding teams. His background in master planning is an asset in clarifying circulation issues on large scale campuses. He works especially well with existing facilities, architectural and contractor teams simultaneously working on campus, understanding their design intent and coordinating detailing issues with their technical staff.
Roger’s wayfinding experience at Aesthetics includes exterior wayfinding design and planning at fifteen major medical centers. He has also led “whole hospital analysis” projects, which involve studies providing recommendations for wayfinding, traffic circulation, parking, and architectural guidelines designed around improving the facility image and user and community experience. |

Leah Goodwin
Director of Arts Programs and Fundraising Strategies
Leah brings over twenty years of development and arts program management experience. Leah has a diverse background that includes small business development and fund raising, marketing and communications in the areas of cultural, community, and public relations. Her exemplary career in the arts encompasses everything from public arts management to visual and performing arts program development and consultation, to creation and implementation of award winning arts in education and arts in hospital programs. |

Kortney Schemidt
Director of Interpretive Displays
Kortney’s area of expertise is in design and fabrication. Kortney has an interior design background, including work for elderly care, medical office buildings, academic facilities and university resident housing projects. Since joining Aesthetics, she has orchestrated over 35 donor recognition, graphics and display projects from conceptual design through installation. She is very adept in working with display fabricators and installers and personally supervises most installations. Her experience in construction, enables her to problem solve site issues to ensure completed installations within the scheduled time frame. In addition, her department is responsible for hiring and overseeing all vendors that fabricate the displays, conducting quality control inspections, and developing the standards for acceptance of all final products. |

Liz Titus Baskin
General Manager
Liz joined Aesthetics in 1993 to oversee company operations, with specific responsibility for planning, finance, contracts, and personnel. She bring 30 years of corporate management experience to assure quality and accuracy in the fulfillment of the mission of the company. |
