The theme for Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital is – Building Well. Being Well. The teams of clinical and administrative professionals at Goleta are proud of their unique and distinct culture. Working closely together, they embrace medical innovation, and alternative healing strategies. The Goleta Valley enjoys the benefits of UCSB, a world-class research university, and the hospital staffs take pride in knowing that they serve as UCSB hospital. The area has a rich agricultural heritage with abundant lemon, orange, and avocado orchards and also boasts a wealth of open space and breathtaking coastal views.
Through a Call for Invitation process, more than 50 Central Coast artists submitted samples of their work and concepts for consideration, and 30 were selected to provide art for the new Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. More than 300 pieces have been acquired for this facility. The wide variety of media selected includes sculpture, two-dimensional original commissioned artworks, mixed-media art, glass, mosaics, fabric, and photography. Art themes included images that support Wellness, Innovation, the rich agricultural heritage of Goleta, natural seascapes and coastal scenes and natural landscapes.
The Landmark Collection highlights 15 pieces that were especially commissioned as focal points in the new Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. These distinguishing pieces are located in the lobby, the gardens, the elevator landings, waiting rooms and cafeteria. The balance of the pieces form an integral and vital part of the décor in corridors, patient rooms, and conference and consultation areas.
