Valley Children’s Hospital is a non-profit, state-of-the-art children’s hospital on a 50-acre campus with 359-licensed beds and a medical staff of more than 550 physicians. In 2014, it became apparent to the senior executives and the Board of Directors that the facilities did not reflect the high level of medicine and caring being delivered at the hospital or at their clinics. Aesthetics, Inc. was hired to design a customer experience masterplan for the hospital and network of facilities that included the design and co-creation of a master interior design plan, a wayfinding plan, an art plan, and a donor recognition plan.
Developed through the visioning process, one of the main project goals was to communicate the brand message throughout the health journey: “KIDS ARE OUR WORLD”. The facility was well-respected in their community for the quality of medical care. The desire was to have the physical environment reflect this brand message as well. As a team, senior leadership and Aesthetics identified an over arching subliminal message for the children and families of “We were taken care of and felt safe”.
